The first Pride parade took place in London in 1972 with approximately 2,000 participants, in 2006, 600,000 marchers participated in Euro Pride, which took place in London for the second time, marching down Regent Street and Oxford Street. In 2008, Army personnel were allowed to take part in the parade in uniform, a decision preceded by the police in 2003.
